We are passionate about the work being done at Career and Recovery Resources, Inc., a 73 year old United Way of Greater Houston, multi-service agency with the mission to help people identify and overcome barriers to employment.
Through the generosity of our funding sources and supporters, we continue to help meet the needs of the Greater Houston community. Each year, we typically serve around 2,500 clients in our Employment and Veteran Services programs, and provide educational outreach to over 5,000 youth, ages 14 – 24, including providing scholarships from our Frederick Wiener Memorial Scholarship Fund. In 2017, in our Alternative Substance & Alcohol Abuse Treatment Program served 1,750 clients and tested 2,500 for HIV and HepC.
As CRR’s employment support services team works with clients to enter the job market, their methods include job readiness workshops, career counseling, computer training, case management, METRO cards, work attire, tools, TWIC cards, vocational training referrals and fee assistance, certifications leading to employment, and GED exam preparation. These efforts were accomplished through partnerships with more than 135 community organizations and employers.
The job market in Houston has been impacted by the recent reductions in the energy sector and Hurricane Harvey’s aftermath. Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. is focused on assisting every client with employment, counseling services, and financial assistance for emergency relief after Hurricane Harvey’s devastating impact to families in and around the Houston area.
We thank each of you for supporting Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. Our work is dedicated to helping people find a path to success through meaningful and relevant employment, which we feel is vital to enhancing one’s quality of life.
We are excited to be able to serve and we look forward to a bright future of continued service to the community.
