Our Goal: Everyone who wants to work will have access to a job. Being a person who is deaf or hard of hearing is not a barrier to work. Employers who don't consider hiring a person who is hard of hearing or deaf creates the barrier. Businesses have a great opportunity to hire excellent employees if they take the initiative to learn about deaf culture. CRR determined that Empowered Hands, LLC , is the best service provider that meets the needs of this community. We are lucky to have them located in the Employment Services Center. Individuals who access Empowered Hands LLC clients can use the computer and technology options available. According to Texas Workforce Solutions, there are 60,000 unemployed people in Harris County who are deaf and hard of hearing. The average salary for this community is less than $5,000.00 a year. Empowered Hands LLC wants to help move individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing move out of poverty. Many individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing did not have successful school experiences and need support from those who understand best how they learn.

About Our Program

CRR is the premier agency in Houston providing these services to support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community.

We offer counseling, education and training, and support in integrative programs developed from evidence-based models in which the client is an active participant. These services are provided at no cost to our clients.

CRR is the premier agency in Houston providing these services to support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) community. Nearly one in four of our DHHS clients is an ex-offender or in recovery from substance use disorder, and some 90% are receiving government assistance or charity.  Our clients come from the Middle East, Asia and Africa as well as North America. 

We provide American Sign Language instruction for deaf adults, including those who have relocated to the United States from other countries. Assistance is also provided for those seeking to take the United States Naturalization test or the written portion of the Texas Driver’s License examination.
