We are passionate about the work being done at Career and Recovery Resources, Inc., a 71 year old United Way of Greater Houston, multi-service agency with the mission to help people identify and overcome barriers to employment.
In 2014, we served more than 6,778 job seekers with 3,564 enrolling for employment assistance and 1,212 persons with barriers to employment becoming employed at an average wage of $12 an hour. We are currently completing the data collection for year 2015 and will update the above numbers within the next twenty days.
Employment and housing stability services for veterans and the United Way of Greater Houston’s THRIVE program is expanded to help families acquire sufficient income and achieve financial stability. Our work was accomplished through partnerships with 135 community organizations and employers.
We are now in Phase 2 of our Capital Campaign with a goal to raise an additional $1.5 million by December 2016. This will allow for expanded program facilities and the capacity to provide even better services to more clients. The need for intensive employment services and counselling continues to grow as thousands of people arrive in our area seeking employment. Returning veterans continue to be a large part of our new client base, as are those seeking "mid-skill" training and employment.

We appreciate your support for our agency either in general operations, Capital Campaign, or both. We also always appreciate volunteers who help us in many of our programs. It is this support from those in the Greater Houston Community that makes our work successful. Thank you!
