CRR, Inc. Receives Award for Veteran Services

Career and Recovery Resources’ Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) leadership, along with other leaders in the Veterans Administration’s Houston SSVF program who were part of the SSVF / Rapid Rehousing (RRH) workgroup, received the Spirit of Collaboration Award for exemplifying the concept of collaboration.

The agencies historically had been operating cooperatively, but independently while providing a variety of vital services to the homeless veteran community in the greater Houston area, according to CSH Program Manager, Heather Muller.

The agencies “joined forces in a way that allowed the community to efficiently and effectively house over 2,888 veteran households in the last two years and prevent homelessness for countless other veterans who found themselves in difficult circumstances.

“Embracing a shared-initiative approach allowed the agencies to establish operational standards, cooperatively support individual agency goals, share important data on a real-time basis, efficiently coordinate intakes and referrals, share client-centered outcomes, embrace one another’s successes, learn from one another’s failures, and together best assist veterans in meeting their goals.”

The collaborative agencies include U.S.VETS, Salvation Army, Career and Recovery Resources Inc., Neighborhood Centers Inc., the Housing Corporation, Goodwill Industries, Regional VA SSVF, and the Continuum of Care (CoC), a program of Coalition for the Homeless.
