Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. hosted its 18th annual Barrier Breaker Award Luncheon on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Hyatt Regency Houston located at 1200 Louisiana. We were delighted to have Mr. and Mrs. David Mendez as our Honorees! The Barrier Breaker luncheon honors outstanding community leaders for significant volunteerism and/or philanthropy within the Houston community. We also recognize Star Client achievements and raise funds to support agency training and employment programs.
David and Terri Mendez were honored for outstanding contributions for Houston’s social service agencies and those with barriers to employment. David L. Mendez, Head of Middle Market Industries with JPMorgan Chase, has been with the bank and its predecessors for 37 years. Currently, he leads Middle Market Specialized Industries which include: Beverage, Franchise Finance, Mortgage Warehouse, Oil & Gas and a focused effort on developing additional key industry verticals. Terri is a wife, mother, grandmother and a long-time volunteer for the “Healthcare for the Homeless” organization. Terri enjoys all the challenges and the responsibilities that come with these multiple functions.

Job Search Skills Training: workshops to provide knowledge and techniques that improve an individual's self-esteem, job chances, and motivate their job search.
Job Placement Assistance: appropriate job leads and guidance by a professional employment specialist.
Resume Preparation: techniques and tips on writing an effective resume.
Computer Literacy Training: introduction to Windows and operation of popular computer software.
Resource Center: tools and materials necessary for a successful job search. The Center offers information for more than 500 occupational areas, professional journals, reports on current job trends,
directories and a complete line of audiovisual equipment.
Job Bank: up-to-date employment listings and local companies, universities and government agencies. Clients are provided access to computers, copiers, fax machines, phones and typewriters.
